Boulder MAU Meeting Notes

Today’s MAU Meeting

Reclaim Mother’s Day Parade Planning
MAU is gearing up for Reclaiming Mothers Day in 2008! Soon, we will be sending letters to businesses asking for sponsorship. Do you know of a business that may be interested? Let us know! Also, we will be offering table space to local non-profits working on behalf of the world’s children. The fee is $40 and includes a 4ft table space.
We are also open to ideas for a locally “famous” person to be a guest speaker at the Mothers Day event. Ideas?
Beth is in need of flat bed sheets in order to make more pants for stilt-walkers! If you have some to donate, please bring them to our next meeting or drop off on Beth’s porch at 945 Grandview.
I, Janna, will be working on media coverage for the event. If you have any ideas (other than the obvious ones I’m already thinking of: The Daily Camera…) please send me a list of papers, stations, etc and I will track down and follow up with the appropriate people.

Conference on World Affairs Concurrent Event – school children from many Boulder schools will be attending. Contact joellen@mothersactingup.org for more info.
Thursday, April 10, 11:15 - 12:15 p.m. (Norlin Quad - meet at the front of the library)

The World's Biggest Lesson: Education is the answer! Led by Karambu Ringera.
Join school children and advocates of all shapes and sizes in launching an awareness-raising event to call for basic education for all children. Led by Karumbu Ringera and local youth leaders, we will gather to send an exuberant message to the world's leaders to keep their promise to the world's children for universal primary education for all by 2015!

Healthcare Watch
Kelye shared some of her excitement and news from the All Kids Covered by 2010 event. For more information, http://bouldermau.blogspot.com/2008/02/cover-all-kids-by-2010.html

Facilitating Local MAU Communities
We discussed Mom’s Night In utilizing Table Talk as a means to get mothers thinking about the issues.
